Child Studio

In Child Studio young artists ages 6-12 get to choose from a wide array of both two and three dimensional mediums to work from. Pencils, pastels, tempera + watercolor paint, markers, collage, printmaking, sewing, weaving, found object sculpture and clay are all available. Students often begin by experimenting and playing with the art materials, while teachers guide and support this endeavor. Eventually, strategies and best practices are introduced so that students can work towards mastering techniques that help them to create what they envision in their mind's eye.

The studios at River Gallery are full of art works made by artists of all ages and there are ongoing exhibitions of student's work throughout the year. Student work will stay at RGS in portfolios, rather than be brought home each week. This will allow students to work on pieces for more than one class.
