Chris Lundberg Running for Windham-3 seat

Lundberg plans to pursue one of the Democratic nominations for this two-seat House district.

Chris Lundberg, a 71-year-old retired electrical systems engineer, has announced his candidacy for the Windham-3 seat, currently held by Rep. Leslie Goldman, D, who is stepping down. Lundberg plans to pursue one of the Democratic nominations for this two-seat House district.

Lundberg, a long-time resident of Bellows Falls and previously Saxtons River, has spent over four decades in the area. His professional background includes significant experience in the machine tool and printed circuit board industries, where he focused on electrical and control systems engineering. His career took off after he completed courses in electrical theory at a local technical school, leading him to work at MacDermid Equipment in Springfield as a control systems engineer. He has also worked extensively in the ultra-precision sector, where he was involved in electrical design and equipment testing.

His interest in public service has grown through his participation in local legislators' sessions at the Rockingham Free Public Library, where he began to explore various state and local issues. His primary legislative focuses include education, healthcare reform, economic development, and environmental protection. Lundberg expresses a strong commitment to safeguarding constitutional rights for future generations and emphasizes the necessity of implementing essential changes, even if they may be challenging.

Lundberg identified himself as a liberal, advocating for women's rights and stating that he has never supported Donald Trump's policies. His involvement in local politics has also led him to visit the State House in Montpelier in 2026, where he attended committee meetings, engaged with legislators, and observed the House and Senate sessions.

When discussing education, he noted that while he is not against school consolidation, he believes such moves should be voluntary rather than compulsory. This topic is currently contentious within the Legislature, particularly with Governor Phil Scott's push for statewide school restructuring.

Affordable housing reform is another issue Lundberg highlights, expressing support for H.181, a bill aimed at easing restrictions to allow more budget-friendly housing options. He emphasizes the importance of addressing the housing crisis as a key factor in attracting new residents and businesses to the state.

He has also voiced concerns about the rising costs and complexity of healthcare, expressing his willingness to assist in finding practical solutions. Lundberg's journey to Vermont began in 1973 when he attended Windham College in Putney, where he earned a degree in English literature, later gaining technical training through a local high school. In addition to his candidacy, he works intermittently in a local business restoring sports cars.

The Windham-3 District comprises the towns of Rockingham, Westminster, and Brookline. The incumbent legislator alongside this district is Rep. Michelle Bos-Lun, D, who is campaigning for her fourth term after being first elected in 2020.
