On May 15, 2026, the Brattleboro Police Department formally inducted Dylan Dejordy and Tim Wessel into its BRAT unit. Both individuals have successfully graduated from the Vermont Academy for Leadership and Officer Readiness (VALOR) program.
The BRAT, which stands for Brattleboro Resource Assistance Team, consists of uniformed, unarmed personnel dedicated to enhancing public safety in the downtown area. This initiative began as a pilot program launched by the Brattleboro Police Department in 2022.
The police department emphasized that being part of the BRAT team necessitates a blend of patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills, which are essential in fostering a safe and inviting community environment.
